Erith Town 7-2 Glebe
FA Youth Cup, 2nd Preliminary Round – 29th September 2021
The Dockers moved into the last qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup with a ruthless 7-2 win over Glebe.
It took less than two minutes for Erith Town to take the lead as Frankie Burgess burst down the right and crossed low for Jay Baker to turn the ball in.
Glebe levelled in the 11th minute when Nathan Jeche got in behind the home defence and clipped the ball past Joshua Butteris, but Baker restored the lead three minutes later.
The impressive David Gokou-Siakouri tormented the Glebe defence and crossed low for Baker to bundle the ball home at the second attempt.
It would be Gokou-Siakouri who would add the third in the 29th minute, tip-toeing his way past two defenders before firing into the roof of the net.
Two minutes later it was 4-1 when Glebe keeper Izzak Moses could only parry Harry Lawrence’s effort and it fell for Jonas Petkevicius to score from close range.
It could have been five before half-time as The Dockers dominated their visitors, but they had to wait until the 58thminute to extend their lead.
Petkevicius’ free-kick was met by Alfie Eldridge and when his header came back off the bar Isaac Jones was there to score his first of the season.
Brian Njoku pulled one back for Glebe twenty minutes from time, but nine minutes later it was 6-2 as Baker completed his hat-trick with a deflected shot into the far corner.
The goal of the night was saved for added time when substitute Asanti Amoah cut inside and hit a thunderbolt that flew past Moses from 20 yards.
Having beaten Chatham, Maidstone away and Glebe convincingly at home, The Dockers management will, overall, be very pleased with the progress the lads are making.
