Erith Town U18/U23 lock horns with Glebe U18 for Tommy Crush Foundation.
Wednesday 31st August saw a combination of Erith Town Under-18 and Under-23 teams take to the field to lock horns with Glebe FC’s Under-18 all to raise awareness for the fantastic charity, Tommy Crush Foundation.
The Tommy Crush Foundation’s aim is to raise the necessary funds and awareness to try and change the outcome for another young person who may be suffering in silence and to stop another family losing a son, daughter, brother or sister. The match between the two sides was a competitive game, played in the right spirits and focusing on the wonderful work the Foundation does. The game was a tight affair, which The Dockers just edged 4-3, and along with a seven-goal thriller, it was a great game with plenty of outstanding football from both sides.
Speaking after the game, Under-23’s manager, and Tommy Crush Foundation ambassador, Marc Petters said, “The game was amazing for me, and also my good friend, Dan Benson who we were playing against! What inspires us to keep working hard as ambassadors is that a lot of the boys involved in the game go to schools where they know of the Tommy Crush Foundation. When we spoke in the dressing room before the game they knew of it, which is great, and means we are all doing the right thing. To highlight the work and reiterate that the Foundation is there to support kids if and when they may need it, shows that these kids are not alone. If you are a teenager who has the stress of exams, leaving school and going into the next stage of your lives, the Tommy Crush Foundation can help you and we will continue to keep working hard to raise the work of such a fantastic organisation. Being an ambassador for this group feels me with immense pride, and I’d like to thank not just Erith Town and Glebe for allowing the game to take place, but also the wonderful staff at Peabody for allowing us the opportunity to play the game on the glorious 4G Pitch at their Peabody Sporting Club Thamesmead Community Centre.”
Along with Marc Petters, Erith Town FC would like to thank Peabody for letting the club use the Peabody Sporting Club Thamesmead Community Centre, and if you’d like to know more about the Tommy Crush Foundation, please visit https://tommycrushfoundation.org.uk/.
