Erith Town Youth at ASG – The Perfect Partnership

This weekend saw our mini-Dockers of Erith Town U9 Black and Under 10 teams have a well-earned break from football and visit local community project Active Sports Gymnastics (ASG) in Thamesmead.

ASG is a local gymnasium for children of all ages and abilities, whether beginners or experienced gymnasts, working and learning in an environment that helps them grow and develop their love of the sport.

The two squads were kindly invited down to take part in a number of fun activities with the help of ASG’s wonderful gymnastic coaches and as well as having a fantastic time, our two young Dockers’ squads were taught some brilliant new skills and talents.

Giving more detail on the work ASG do and the new partnership with Erith Town after the event, ASG Director, Jessica said, “ASG is a place for children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to come together doing something active. Sport is such an important part of children’s development both physically and mentally. We wanted to create a comfortable atmosphere for everyone to enjoy gymnastics.

“We are very excited to begin our partnership with Erith Town. They have very similar values to ASG. It’s fantastic that we are able to support each other, getting more children in the local community involved in sports.  We would love to be able to host the football teams for more sessions at our gymnastics club in the future. We are also looking forward to our gymnasts coming to watch an Erith Town football match.  We hope that the partnership will get more children active and enjoying a variety of sports.”

Head of Youth & Community, Michael Avery echoed Jessica’s words saying, “One of the main reasons why we partnered with ASG was to help highlight the work they do in the local area to get people active and enjoying physical activities.  Being so close to our home at the Stanmore Stadium, as well as sharing a similar ethos for the local residents of Thamesemead & Erith, made this partnership a no-brainer and now I have seen the sessions they host with our young players, I am delighted that Erith Town FC will be working with ASG in the future.”
