Erith Town Announce the Planet Turf Crossways Arena
Erith Town Football Club can today announce that we have signed an agreement to manage the Crossways pitches at Sporting Club Thamesmead, starting from the 2025/26 season. The agreement sees Erith Town having a home for all our youth teams, and being able to develop the space so that we can create a community football hub for all our youth players on the now famous Dockers’ Pathway.
Speaking on this new agreement, Head of Youth & Community, Michael Avery said, “With the management of Crossways now being under Erith Town, this means all our youth teams can now train and play all their games at our home in Bayliss Avenue, right next to the first team stadium. The way this club has grown in the local community since our move to SE28 has been incredible, and now being able to have our Selkent, Junior Premier League and Kent Youth League teams developing their football here is something we are all very excited about. Hearing the passion and desire that Mark Deveney and Steve O’Boyle have to really develop young local talent and to see the work that both Adam Woodward and Marc Petters have put in to get young players into the reserves and first team shows just how much Erith Town care about the community and the future of young players at our club. To have a facility like Crossways where all our young players can enhance their football is something that will see us build on our solid foundations in the borough over the last couple of years, and really take every area of Erith Town to the next level. We would like to thank Peabody for their continued support and we can’t wait to work with them, and TDA Football Club who will continue to also use the Crossways pitches, to strengthen the great relationship we already have.”
Speaking on behalf of Peabody Community Foundation, Head of Community Properties Fiona Hamilton says “Football is a great way to bring communities together, and this is what Erith Town does so well. We know how important it is for their youth teams to have a permanent home, and we’re so pleased to support them with this. Being right next to the first team at our community facility, Sporting Club Thamesmead, is an added bonus for the players. It’s fantastic to see the club grow and to provide quality spaces for them to do this. I wish all the teams the very best of luck for the new season.”
