A Christmas Message From Woody
To the Dockers’ Faithful,
I’d like to start this message by wishing you and your families all a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year.
As we approach the end of the year, I’d like to take this opportunity to have a look back over the last 12 months, and I think we can all say that it has been one to remember! I’ve been at Erith Town for a number of years now, and although I’ve always had the belief that we as a club could go to the next level, what we have achieved has been remarkable and will stay with me for a long time to come. Being able to win a trophy is always special but being able to complete such a historic treble and by doing so by staying true to our roots and our values as a club is something that is truly special. Some clubs dream of being at the next level of the non-league pyramid looking up, so I am in a very lucky position to be managing at this club with the support and backing of some brilliant people.
You will know that our target for this season was to consolidate our position in the Isthmian South-East Division, and although I’ve always known that I have an amazing group of players, to be just outside the play-offs after 20 games and close to our original points target with still half the season to go fills me with immense pride. With that said, we are still not taking anything for granted and will keep fighting tooth and striving in every competition we are in, giving that 100% commitment and effort that you expect from an Erith Town team.
I’d like to end this message with a few thank you’s. Firstly, to Mark and Kay – your support over the years and in this new season has been immense and you deserve the rewards this year has produced. I’d like to also thank my coaching staff, the players of my squad who take to the field and leave everything on the pitch for this club, the committee and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes every single week, our youth teams and managers who are nurturing the next generations of young Dockers who will hopefully, one day, represent the first team. I’d also like to thank the many community partners who work with us daily to reach out to people around the local area who would otherwise find it difficult to get involved in this game we all love, and thanks also to our sponsors and commercial partners. Finally, and probably most importantly, to you, The Dockers’ Faithful. The backing you have given us over the previous seasons, and since we have moved to the Stanmore Stadium has been exceptional and I can’t wait to see you all over the festive period and in 2025.
Have a great festive break, be good to yourselves and to those around you and see you all soon.
Merry Christmas.
Woody
