James Dyer departs

Dyer Departs The Dockers

Following the conclusion of Erith Town’s campaign in the Isthmian South-East season, we can confirm that James Dyer will be leaving the club.

Signing prior to the start of the 2023/24 season, James was an integral part of our historic treble winning team, scoring in the SCEFL Challenge Cup final win against Corinthian, as well as scoring a brace in the 3-2 Kent Senior Trophy win against Croydon FC. James was also awarded the Player of the Match in this game, and went on to play the full 90 minutes in our SCEFL Premier Division Play-Off win against Corinthian which secured tier four football for The Dockers for the first time in our history.

James was also awarded prestigious individual honours at the club, winning The Albert Putnam award, Supporters’ Player of the Year and Management Player of the Year at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Speaking about James, Dockers Manager Adam Woodward said “James came to us a little bit lost in football after a few rough years, and we agreed together that we needed to get him enjoying playing again and put the smile back on his face. He went on to score 30-plus goals that year, including goals in two cup finals, and was integral to our winning promotion. Now, after a successful season for the club and for James personally in our first year at step 4, we both agreed it was time for him to step up to a higher level, so I’m happy that we achieved what we set out to do two years ago.”

In all, James featured 94 times for Erith Town and scored 47 goals in his two years at the club and he leaves SE28 to continue his career in a higher division.

Everyone at Erith Town wishes James the very best of luck, and he and his family, The Dyettes, will always be welcome at Bayliss Avenue.
